Geraldine’s Get-Away

$157/night

Geraldine's Get-Away is our largest room which overlooks the pecan tree at the back of the property. The room is decorated in green floral hues that help connect guests with nature and the wild birds that abound on Smith Island. Egrets, blue herons, osprey and bald eagles are other frequent guests.

A king size bed with a temper-pedic mattress, sitting area with a Queen Anne chair, night tables with table lamps for reading and Island inspired books and magazines provide guests with additional reading material.  Nathan hand-painted an antique bureau that features an island ergot standing in the marshland, which surrounds the island, offering protection for blue crabs within the natural seagrasses. A full bath with soaking tub/shower, an antique pedestal sink, and closet space complete the suite.

Geraldine, known as Mimi by everyone on the Island, is Michele’s mother, thus grandmother to the four Davidson children. Although Mimi owned her own business as an interior decorator and worked when raising her own children; she was an immaculate homemaker who enjoyed cooking, cleaning, decorating, and organizing. Mimi has many life-long friends, including the famous 57 Club Girls, a group of high school friends that have met every month since graduation. This group is a robust bunch who play cards, games, and generally can get into as much trouble as they did when they attended high school.
Mimi still resides in Ohio, where Michele was born and raised. She was thrilled when Michele and Nathan started their family, and delights in spoiling her grandchildren, playing games for hours, attending school and sports events, and graciously cooks dinner every night when visiting her grandchildren.
